Syed played for New York Under-19 in 2009 but had to wait seven years before his shot at being picked for the national team. At the New York regional tryout in the spring of 2016, Syed’s belligerent strokeplay for a New York XI against a touring Marylebone Cricket Club side caught the eye of USA coach Pubudu Dassanayake in September 2016. Invited to a national team camp in Indianapolis later that month, he scored confidently against USA’s frontline bowlers to earn selection for the first time in a USA squad for the 2016 Auty Cup and ICC WCL Division Four in Los Angeles.

Jason Mohammed is a testimony of how hard work will get you to where you want to go. Having made his debut for T&T at the start of 2006, Jason showed early promise of playing for the West Indies one day. That promise was fulfilled, when in 2010, he was given the chance to play against India in a One Day International. However, he didn’t manage to cement his spot in the team back then. He came back to the domestic game and worked on his batting for a number of years. He’s scored 66 First Class matches for the T&T Red Force and another 83 One Day matches 11 centuries in his domestic career. He’s also scored 27 half-centuries in the regional game. The run in the West Indies team that he so yearned came in 2017, when he played through the entire year of One Day Internationals. The following year also saw him keep his place in the team and playing in a few matches.
