Mushtaq Ahmed Joins Bangladesh Cricket for World T20 2024: Former Pakistan Leg Spinner, Mushtaq Ahmed has joined the Bangladesh Men’s Cricket Team as Spin Bowling Coach during their road to World T20 2024. Team International Cricketers Association proudly announces the appointment of Mushtaq as the spin bowling coach of the Bangladesh Cricket Team.
Mushtaq Ahmed took 246 wickets in his illustrious playing career for Pakistan. Post-retirement, he became a renowned coach. Mushtaq, at 53, has already coached multiple international cricket teams. His first major stint was with the England Cricket Team back in 2008. He is credited for the development of Graeme Swann as England’s main spinner. Moving on, in 2014, he became the bowling consultant of the Pakistan Cricket Team and had the role till 2016. He has also remained the Head Coach of Pakistan’s National Cricket Academy. Mushtaq Ahmed has also served as the Assistant Coach and Spin Bowling Consultant of the West Indies Cricket Team.
The veteran also had a coaching stint with Surrey. Moreover, he was the Spin Bowling Coach of Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League for 4 years, including 2021, the season that Multan Sultans won.
Mushtaq Ahmed will now coach the spinners of the Bangladesh Cricket Team. His journey will surely be quite challenging as there is not much time left for the ICC World T20 2024. Having someone like Mushtaq Ahmed for a major event in the West Indies (where tracks are spin-friendly) could do wonders for the Bangladesh Cricket Team.
